Hey everybody! As a local real estate agent here at Lake Anna, one of the most common questions I get from clients is “Where should we eat?” Whether you’re a longtime resident or just visiting our beautiful lake, I’m excited to share 37 incredible spots where you can grab anything from a quick bite to an unforgettable dining experience.
Waterfront Dining Destinations
Let’s start with what everyone comes to Lake Anna for – those gorgeous water views while you dine! The Lake Anna Tap House has become one of our absolute favorite watering holes. Opened just a couple years ago, this place has absolutely exploded in popularity. Picture this: you’re sitting on their massive outdoor deck, sipping a cold beer, munching on their loaded tater tots (or as they call them, “redneck fries”), while local musicians play on their outdoor stage. And the best part? You can pull right up in your boat!
Right down at the southeastern end of the lake, El Gran Patron is serving up some of the most authentic Mexican cuisine you’ll find in the area. Trust me on their margaritas – there’s nothing better than watching the sunset over the lake with one of those in hand. They’ve only been open about a year, but they’ve already become a local hotspot.
Tim’s at Lake Anna is another must-visit spot. Even though I’m not much of a seafood guy myself, I have to tell you – their fish tacos are insanely good. Between their massive back deck overlooking the lake and their famous crab legs (my kids can’t get enough of them), it’s easy to see why this place stays packed.
Asian Cuisine Scene
Here’s something that might surprise you – Lake Anna has become quite the destination for amazing Asian food! Asian Cafe, right at the end of the 208 bridge, is one of my personal favorites. Jason, the owner (give him a fist bump when you see him!), serves up the most incredible Hibachi filet you can imagine. We’re talking about a giant serving of perfectly cooked steak, mountains of rice, and fresh vegetables.
Chef Lee holds a special place in my heart – it’s where I took my beautiful bride Ashley on our very first date (love you, baby!). Their sweet and sour chicken is my go-to, but my kids absolutely crush their crab rangoons every time we visit.
And let me tell you about Hunan Best – if you’re looking for that authentic, family-owned restaurant experience, this is your spot. The moment you walk in, you can feel the pride they take in their food and service. They aim to please, and trust me, they deliver every time.

Local Coffee & Ice Cream Spots
Man, you’ve got to check out DK’s Coffee and Ice Cream! Big shout out to Darren (what’s up, mate!) who came straight from Australia and opened this place last year. It’s been absolutely blowing up, and for good reason. I sometimes grab my morning coffee there – you know, after I’ve already had two or three cups at home!
For those hot summer days on the lake, The Mo Through is this cute little ice cream shop tucked under Tim’s restaurant deck. It’s perfect for a quick sweet treat, and they’ve got outdoor seating right by the water. My little girl Cameo and I love stopping by JoJo’s after school for ice cream sampling – they’re super generous with letting you try different flavors before picking your favorite.
Quick Bites & Casual Options
Sometimes you just need something quick and satisfying, and Below Deck is exactly that. Their pastrami Reuben and country Cuban (which, fun fact, was actually my nickname in high school) are absolutely killer. The owner is usually there serving customers personally, which just adds to the experience.
Big Cheese Pizza and Wings is my go-to for reliable, delicious pizza. It’s mainly carry-out, but being right here at the Food Lion shopping center makes it super convenient for lake folks.
Don’t sleep on Elk Creek Country Store – this place has so much history! I remember coming here as a kid with my dad to play with the minnows in the live well (and yes, those minnows are still there!). They make breakfast and lunch to order, plus you can grab fishing tackle while you’re there.
Upscale Dining Experiences
When you’re looking for something a bit more upscale, Calliope’s Orchard is housed in this gorgeous 3,000 square foot barn about 5 minutes from the lake. They serve everything from steaks to seafood, and their seasonal brunch is something special.
Tavern on the Rail is what I’d call upper-scale country dining – think prime rib and quality steaks. The downstairs dining area has this really cool, relaxed vibe that I love. Just remember they’re only open Fridays and Saturdays now, so call ahead!
Veto’s at Lake Anna offers this perfect mix of Italian and American cuisine. Their pasta dishes are fantastic, and they even serve breakfast on weekends during the summer. The upstairs lounge and bar are perfect for private events.
Beyond the Lake: Worth the Drive
Just because these spots aren’t right on the water doesn’t mean they’re not worth checking out! Country Boys BBQ, about 10-12 miles away in Louisa, has this amazing brisket taco that you’ve got to try. For the adventurous eaters, they’ve even got the “Stairway to Hell” challenge – though I’m still not sure what the prize is!
Roma’s has been serving authentic Italian food in Louisa for decades. Every Italian dish you could possibly think of, they’ve got it – from traditional pasta dishes to seafood options.
Wineries & Breweries
To wrap up our food and drink tour, we’ve got some fantastic local spots for wine and beer lovers. Lake Anna Winery is just a couple miles north of the lake off Courthouse Road – say hi to Jeff when you’re there, he’ll take great care of you. Everly Vineyards and Brewing Company is this amazing family-owned boutique winery that also serves beer, and Log Home Brewing Company is really making a name for itself.
I always laugh when people ask if there are any good restaurants near Lake Anna – we just covered 37 amazing spots, all with their own unique flavors and vibes! From casual lakeside hangouts to upscale dining experiences, Lake Anna’s food scene has something for everyone.
So go eat, drink, and be merry! And hey, if you’re ever thinking about making Lake Anna your permanent home (where you can try all these spots at your leisure), give me a call. I’d love to help you find your perfect spot on the lake!
